The Strathcona Station Proposal is a Mixed Use development incorporating transit, commercial retail and dwellings. It consists of a raised street-car trestle, commercial retail building, and “grain elevator” with condominiums between 83rd Avenue & 84th Avenue and 102nd Street and Gateway Boulevard.
Located opposite the Historic Strathcona CPR Station, the rail station would function as a hub that would serve: 1. a cross-river antique street-car system between Strathcona and Grandin LRT station; 2. a south-east branching rapid transit network; 3. a high-speed rail connecting Edmonton to the Edmonton International Airport, the city of Red Deer, the Calgary International Airport and the City of Calgary; 4. a South Edmonton bus network; 5. Local modes of transportation (including a Strathcona-area horse-and-buggy route); and 6. Taxi Cabs.
The concept for the retail Center entails creating rentable “tent” kiosks where Alberta Handcraft Artisans can display and sell their wares on a short-term rotating basis.
